Hey! Brings Quirky Art to Springdale

Local artist Andy Rubacky is the owner behind Hey!, a shop in downtown Springdale featuring the work of local Arkansas artists as well as creators from around the country.
“(We’re) just looking to bring a little something different and quirky to downtown Springdale,” he said. The shop’s unique name comes from a Pixies song, and Andy wanted it to spark conversation, which it certainly has.
The artist-made shop is filled with jewelry, pins, stickers, t-shirts, art supplies, and home goods, all designed with a unique flair.

“I’m always trying to change it up and keep it a little different in here,” Andy said.
Since opening in April 2024, Andy says his favorite part of running Hey! has been working with artists and giving them space to showcase their work.
“(My favorite thing is) supporting the community and the artist community,” he said. “It’s a really great feeling when a new artist comes in, and within days something of theirs sells. Seeing artists, whether up-and-coming or long-established, finding their place in downtown Springdale is just a really good feeling.”

Though Andy has been a graphic designer for nearly 30 years, he doesn’t display his own work at the shop.
“I’m an artist who can’t finish anything. Nothing is ever good enough,” he said. “The shop has been my personal therapy session. It’s been my art project.”

“Just come check out Springdale. It’s a great community, and there’s a lot happening. It’s growing, and it’s one of the last areas in the region really taking off. Come down, be a part of it, check out the events, and see everything Springdale has to offer,” he said.
